Simpson County Board of Supervisors met Monday, June 21, 2020 for a special called meeting to open bids.

SAP-64(19)S project bids were open.  (Mt Zion to Shivers Road) The following bids were received.

  • T L Wallace –                        $1,142,796.95
  • RJM MCQueen Construction – $1,350,677.04
  • Dickerson & Bowen –             $1,140,480.59

After opening and verifying bids Dickerson & Bowen was awarded the project. The bid came in 15.3% under projected price. The projected price was $1,346,280.89.

School Board leases were approved by the board.

Road Manager Ben Warren advised the board the the rock & tar project had begun last week.

Sheriff Paul Mullins presented to the board for approval the following employees to hire:

  • Danielle Brown – Full-time certified dispatcher
  • Billy Seghini – Full time certified deputy

The board approved to accept proposal for Insurance and Cafeteria plans from American Fidelity.

Pay increases were approved for Samuel Craft and John Kilpatrick for serving their  probationary period.

Approval was granted to install a metal frame glass door in the Solid Waste Office to tie into the glass barrier for the counter.

Letters of thanks are being sent to the Rankin County Board of Supervisors, Rankin County Sheriff for law enforcement assistance and to the Covington County Hospital ambulance service for mutual aid.

Trustmark was approved as the lowest quote of 1.44% for a 36-month lease purchase financing for the 2 Caterpillar 140M Motor Graders.  Other quotes were from Peoples at 1.97%, BancorpSouth 2.23%, and Hancock Whitney 2.79%.

  • Monday, July 6, 2020
  • Wednesday, July 15
  • Monday, August 3, 2020
  • Monday, August 17, 2020

Holidays:

  • Friday, July 3, 2020 – Independence Day
  • Monday, September 7, 2020 – Labor Day

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
