In a special called board meeting on May 8, 2024, the Magee Board of Aldermen voted to ask Mayor Dale Berry to resign. The motion was made by Alderman Mark Grubbs and seconded by Alderman Sammy Tebo. Other board members present were Aldermen Patrick Brown, Sue Honea, and Lawana Thompson. All voted “aye” in support of the motion.

The board asked the mayor to resign “due to creating a hostile work environment, and using
his position to gain pecuniary benefit for himself, a relative or his own business,” according to the minutes from the special meeting, which were approved by the Board at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. (pictured below)

This meeting happened on May 8th. Why is this just coming out today? Once again Sue, you have a conflict of interest. You are an Alderman and then you are news agency (that’s questionable). Then you conveniently post this today when there is a board meeting. What would better serve the citizens of this town is that all of you resign but that wouldn’t look too good if Dale did resign. Cause that Mayor job will be crowded for candidates!!! The people need to ask a lot of questions about our city government.

Not suprised one but Mike, you hit the nail on the head. Last I checked, the board and the mayor was an “elected” position. Do they really not trust the constituents they are supposed to represent? Hasn’t Mayor Berry formerly served as an alderman and mayor prior to most of them ever running? Why now?!? Ironically, the majority of board makes up first term elected alderman. All of them make a salary, so how do they not benefit financially?! It’s cowardly that she appoints her oldest son over the business to refrain from a loophole that makes it double dipping. Just look up her business on the state’s web site. what internet service is being used to record these meetings? I want to see some evidence as to their accusations, wouldn’t be shocked if they all don’t get (past tense of her first name) Lastly, the article was written by a church member that both Sue and Dale share. Hope their friends or family aren’t close. Next year, it’s rumored that Brent Walker (slogan Magee on the Move), Sue, Sammie and Mark all plan to run against the current mayor. Can’t wait to see how this pans out!! Funny how none of them had a comment last week with the news station. Mayor Berry gave an excellent interview. Keep up the good work! We love and support Dale.
