Supervisors Donny Welch, Wayne Womack, Charlie Westmoreland, and Mitchell Chatman were in attendance for the Monday, October 15, 2024, Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting. District two supervisor Danny Craft was absent. Board President Mitchell Chatman called the meeting to order. Sheriff Paul Mullins led in prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Chancery Clerk Tim Gray presented two items for proof of publication: 1. In the matter of levying county and ad valorem taxes for the current fiscal year 2024-25 including road districts, school districts, and other taxing districts
- Proof of Publications for Simpson County combined budget for publication for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2024.
Sheriff Paul Mullins presented Sharon Fewell dispatch part time certified ($14.75 per hour) be moved to full time certified ($15.40 per hour). The board approved the request.
Charlie Welch informed the board the 1992 records were destroyed.
Attorney Danny Welch opened bids on a chip spreader
Mid South Machinery bid was $425, 755 with a guaranteed buy back .
Puckett Machinery bid was $415,802.25 with a guaranteed buy back.
The bids were taken under advisement to compare the contracts.
Bids were taken on “bituminous distributor” which is tar distributor.
Puckett Machinery bid: $331,959.08
Mid South Machinery bid: $339,000.00
These bids were also taken under advisement.
Daniel Ferguson requested a work session with the Supervisors to obtain clarification on several matters.
The meeting was adjourned for an Executive session.
