Berry & Cockrell Show as SCA Wins 48-21

Friday night against the defending 4A State Champion, Riverfield Academy, turned out to be the Brentley Berry and Carter Cockrell Show! The two combined for 264 yards rushing and 7 touchdowns (Berry was 109 yds with 4 TD’s and Cockrell was 155 yds with 3 TD’s).

#1 Brentley Berry; #6 Tyler Stanford and #14 Chanse Funchess
In the first quarter, Berry had touchdown runs of 27 and 30 yards. This was soon followed up by a 14 yard run by Carter Cockrell.  However, Riverfield struck with a 57 yard touchdown pass from Drew Holley to Cooper Eldridge to end the first quarter. Simpson led 21-7.
#3 Koby Walker and #2 Carter Cockrell
In the second quarter, the dominating Cougar offensive line went back to work. Berry had a 14 yard touchdown run followed by a 60 yard touchdown run by Cockrell. Then with 1:02 left in the half, Berry threw a 16 yard touchdown pass to Carter Cockrell. The Cougars led at halftime by a score of 42-7.

#5 Colby Womack; #10 Barrett McKenney; #52 Trey Eubanks; #78 Jayden Priest
In the third quarter, freshman quarterback,Barrett McKenney scored on a 1 yard touchdown run.  Riverfield added two late touchdowns by a 43 yard touchdown run by Brett Wharton and a 13 yard reception by Cooper Eldridge.

#6 Tyler Stanford and #13 Sawyer Dunn (kicker)
The final score was 48-21 Simpson Academy.  The Cougars were led defensively by Tyler Stanford with 7.5 tackles and Braden Duncan with 6.5 tackles and an interception.

#5 Colby Womack; #13 Sawyer Dunn; and #14 Chanse Funchess
The Cougars play their final regular season game on the road this Friday night at East Rankin Academy at 7:00.
