In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, MageeNews.com is holding a Facebook fundraiser for Merchant Ship Ministries.  All money raised will be used to help the Njoo Dada Rescue Home in Nairobi, Kenya, purchase land for a permanent home.

Njoo Dada was founded by a woman named Lunar Odawa, who works to give teen mothers in crisis a safe home, adequate nourishment, healthcare and educational opportunities.

The home is holistic, focusing on helping the girls heal and grow physically, mentally and spiritually.

They are taught life skills like cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and parenting skills and range in age from 13 and up.

Merchant Ship Ministries, which was founded by Charlie White and Sue Honea in 2011, has been working with Njoo Dada for several years.  The jewelry and African crafts the ministry sells has helped provide rent for the home each month.

In 2017, a group of women from Magee visited Kenya and worked with the home, leading a retreat for the girls.

Toni Walker was one of those women.  A gifted Bible teacher, Toni led the young girls in Bible study and remembers the eagerness with which they studied the word of God.

She also remembers their stories.

Toni shared some of those memories with MageeNews.com during a recent interview.  Watch it below.
