Magee Chamber of Commerce held their 66th Chamber Banquet at Magee Family Life Center.
Special music for the evening was provided by local entertainment of Johnny Gregory and friends.

Scott Maddox sang the National Anthem and Capt. Eric Williams led in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Darnell Moffett gave the Innovation.
Each table was beautifully decorated with table scapes by local volunteers and business.
A Buffett style dinner was provided.
This year’s Miss Hospitality is Anna Kaitlyn Ashley. She is the 20 year old daughter of Joey and Jennifer Ashley and the older sister of a Garrison Ashley. She is a member of First Baptist Church Magee and graduated from Simpson Academy in 2019. She then attended Copiah Lincoln Community College in Wesson from 2019-2021. She is currently a student at the University of Mississippi majoring in integrated Marketing Communications with a minor in General Business and a specialization in Public Relations. She is also a Diamond Doll for the Ole Miss baseball team and a Lyceum Scholar. In her free time Anna Kaitlyn runs an online boutique called Also Known As and serves at Pinelake Church in Oxford.
Anna Kaitlyn has selected Maely Reed Maddox as her Little Miss Hospitality.
Mayor Dale Berry spoke and stated “I would like to thank the Magee Chamber under the leadership of President Lee Maddox for helping to grow the City of Magee. We have many new businesses coming to our city. The Highway 49 corridor remains strong, but we are seeing a lot of growth in the downtown area. Many buildings in the downtown area have been purchased and I have looked at a lot of future developments. Downtown patio apartments are becoming popular. There are plans for a lot of downtown restaurants and entertainment venues.”
Mayor Berry gave two keys to the city. Debbie Walker and Suzy Thames both received keys for the continuous work volunteering and serving on numerous committees within the city.


Students from Magee High School and Simpson County Academy were honored. Magee’s Star Student is Thomas Dyess and Simpson County Academy’s Star Student is Scott Maddox.
Dyess is the son of Teddy and Chantay Dyess of Madison.
Dyess chose Kimberly McCain as his Star Teacher.
Maddox is the son of Keith and Joanna Maddox.
Maddox chose Chris Murphy as his Star Teacher. Murphy has received the honor for 6 years. Murphy was not able to attend the event.
Three Hall of Fame recipients were honored. All recipients come from the educational sector. Mrs. Lyn Tutor, Coach Earnest Jaynes, and Charles Funchess are the newest inductees to the Hall of Fame. All three were teachers at Magee Schools. Ms. Tutor was unable to attend the event and her son Terry Tutor accepted the award on her behalf.



This year’s Outstanding Citizen is Christian Carrico. Christian has devoted numerous hours in beautification to the city, park cleanups and enrichments, and severed on various community projects and committees.
The Spirit of Magee awards go to Dot Nichols and Chis Lane. Both were chosen for their leadership in the beautifications improvements and time dedicated to the city in the past year. Nichols is not pictured she was unable to attend the event.

Magee’s Business of the year is Ace Building Supply. A family owned business that has been pasted down form generation to generation and still a main commodity in the community.

Dr. Anika Floyd with Copiah Lincoln Community College and Simpson County ACT Preparation Program recognized Gene Polk’s for being a strong community partner since the program’s inception in 2018. Ms. Edith Polk was presented with an Award of Excellence for her unconditional and generous support in helping traditional and non traditional students improve ACT scores for college admissions and scholarships opportunities.

President Lee Maddox updated the audience on the past year’s accomplishments by the Chamber. Maddox then passed the gavel to the newest President Nancy Brown.
Magee’s Chamber of Commerce 2021-2022 Officers are Lee Maddox ~ President, Nancy Brown ~ Vice President, Pam Wallace ~ Treasurer, and Doris Adcox ~ Executive Director.
Board of Directors Retiring 2020-2022 are Ruth Ellington, Leman Cockrell, Patrice Boykin, and Suzy Thames.
2020-2023 members are Pam Wallace, Angela Maddox, Dylan Sanford, and Lee Maddox.
2021-2024 members are Tiffany Kinslow, Nancy Brown, Becky Sullivan, and Clint Ashley
2022-2025 newest members are MeLisa Berry, Denver Carter, Lacye Evans, and Brooke Little.
The evening ended with the singing of God Bless America.
