Arnold Smith Hederman Jr., a Resident of Slidell, LA passed away on February 7, 2022, after an extended battle with pancreatic cancer.
Arnold was born August 4, 1941, in Jackson, Mississippi to Arnold Smith Hederman Sr, and Eleanor (Shaughnessy) Hederman. He was a graduate of Murrah High School and Mississippi State University. He was a member of Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee, MS.
Arnold began his employment with his family-owned newspaper, The Clarion-Ledger/Jackson Daily News, at an early age; first as a paperboy, then the press room, ad sales, and editor of the Clinton News. He was an avid sportsman and a die-hard Mississippi State and Red Sox fan.
Arnold was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was lovingly known by many of his old friends as ‘Boochie’ and ‘Big A’ by the numerous coaches and students he was associated with.
Arnold’s sense of humor is legendary, and all those who knew him have their favorite stories about him. Aside from the time he spent with his family and friends, some of Arnold’s fondest memories came from the many years he spent helping young players excel in their chosen sports and being an assistant coach at Simpson Academy.
Arnold is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Gail (Dear) Hederman of Slidell, La; sons, Arnie Hederman of Jackson, MS; Thomas Hederman of Jackson, MS; Britt Hederman (Rebecca) of Slidell, LA; daughters; Wendy Peacock (Bill) of Herriman, UT; Wanda Whisenant (Jeff) of Madison, MS Brandi Hollingsworth (Chet) of Slidell, LA; sister, Eleanor Wettach of Madison, MS; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
