On Saturday, November 1, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., an argument between two individuals led to a physical altercation, resulting in one person being shot in the hand. Magee Police Department officers responded promptly after receiving a 911 call and quickly converged on the area. The shooter was apprehended near the scene, and the firearm used was collected as evidence.
We would like to thank the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in both Friday’s and Saturday’s incidents. We stand united as one team with one goal: public safety.
In the coming days, you will see an increased number of safety checkpoints throughout the area. Please ensure you have your driver’s license, proof of insurance, and are wearing your seat belt. I would rather listen to complaints of alleged harassment than hear about gun violence in our city.
We are also working with our federal partners to ensure those in violation of any federal laws are held accountable.
If you cause trouble in Magee, expect to meet accountability head on.
Chief Denis J. Borges
Magee Police Department
