Although Hurricane Katrina hit our shores fifteen years ago, the disaster is still fresh on the minds of many Mississippians. This hurricane season, Mississippi is more prepared and so are our citizens. It’s important to review the information provided in this email and to prepare an updated plan for evacuation, communication, and preparation in the event of a hurricane. As Hurricane Laura makes its way inward, the possibility of tornadoes, heavy rainfall, and flooding remains a threat until tomorrow. As we continue to monitor this situation, I will share important information from state and federal emergency management organizations.
