Like many of you, I want to know more about the consolidation process..how was it decided to consolidate …how was the location chosen…Will the students have input into decisions about school colors and mascot. I got answer to those questions and more.

Why can’t the use 16th Section Land for this school? Why do they have to purchase new land? The school system always gets 16th Section land granted to them by the government.
The choice is definitely modern. Hopefully, this school will be long-lasting. It needs to be built for a future look. I do wonder how often those windows will get cleaned inside and out–thinking realistically from day-to-day cleaning crew constraints. The traditional plan is too institutional-looking. It, also, reminds me of the old Mendenhall Elementary entrance side of their auditorium with a porch attached and a church-looking structure on the left end of the proposed plan. The students in the Harrisville area have my sympathies. It would seem there would be some 16th section land area that could be more of a distance compromise for all students involved. Since there is so much controversy concerning the location of this school, I would hope figures would be available for comparing the income from a possible 16th section land area to the cost of the land that will be purchased including getting the site ready for building. I do agree consolidation needs to happen for the benefit of students in Simpson County and for our county to attract future businesses. Education is one of the first things a family considers before moving into an area. A larger school should allow a more varied curriculum and extra-curricular choices. There is no way to please everyone, but I just hope considerations are given to suggestions from the community so we can have a school for which we can all be proud to call OURS.
