American Medical Response (AMR) notified the Simpson County Board of Supervisors ambulance service to Simpson County will cease July 1, 2020. Following disagreements among the supervisors concerning ambulance availability, AMR made the decision to withdraw.
According to the letter, several members of the Simpson County team have resigned from their full-time job with AMR.
The Board of Supervisors will address the situation and began searching for a new ambulance service.
The Board of Supervisors are meeting Thursday at 8:00 AM to further discuss the ambulance situation.
Recent Board discussion about its ambulance service contract have led to some ongoing uncertainty within AMR’s local workforce about our company’s future in Simpson County. That uncertainty-including the County’s impending release of a request for proposals-has been a material factor in the decision of several members of our Simpson County team to resign from their full time job with AMR.
After careful consideration, in accordance with Section 16 of our contract, AMR has made the decision to discontinue our service to Simpson County on July 1, 2020. We are providing more than the required 90 days’ notice to help ensure a smooth transition as the County works to select a new ambulance service.
It has been AMR’s honor to serve Simpson County since 2008. If we can assist Simpson County in the future, we would welcome your call. You have our best wishes for good results with your new provider of ambulance service.
Sincerely,
Steve Peacock
Interim Operations Manager
