Mr. Alfred Landon White Sr., 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. He was born on January 17, 1939, in Sparta, Tennessee, to Benjamin Harrison White and Lillie Jewel Prince.
He served his country as a Staff Sergeant in The United States Air Force from 1959-1967. Growing up on a farm, Alfred learned to be a jack of all trades. He could do anything involving mechanical and engineering. He worked at Frito Lay in Jackson as a plant technician, at Magnatech for ten years, then at Seimens, and retired at seventy-two as a tower technician for T Mobile. He enjoyed gardening, working his sawmill, and getting things done on his tractor. He loved his family, and spending time with them was one of his greatest joys.
Alfred was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Mae Jones White; parents, Benjamin and Lillie White; brother, Benjamin Horace White; and sisters, Edna Earle White and Carolyn Oakwood.
He is survived by his sons Alfred L. White Jr. and Scott White; daughter Lisa Lewis (Danny); sister Catherine Cantrell; granddaughter Reagan Lewis; numerous nephews, nieces, and many friends that he met during his lifetime.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Tutor Funeral Home with interment following in Braxton City Cemetery. Bro. Ed Houser will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnels to Towers, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
