JACKSON, Miss. — Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson commends the Trump Administration, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of the Army for finalizing the Navigable Waters Protection Rule.
“I commend the Trump Administration, the EPA, and the Army for streamlining the definition of the waters of the United States. This rollback of the burdensome 2015 rule will positively impact our farmers, ranchers and landowners across the state, giving them regulatory certainty while clearly defining jurisdiction between federal and state regulations,” said Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson. “Our farmers are some of the greatest conservationists that champion the management of our natural resources.”
The Navigable Waters Protection Rule repeals the 2015 definition of the “waters of the United States” (WOTUS), as defined by the Clean Water Act.
