The City of Magee hosted a Veterans Day program at the Community House on Friday, November 9, 2018. Although the parade was cancelled, the program was well attended and successful! (Between 50-60 people)
Mayor Dale Berry welcomed the veterans, wives, and friends. Brother Ralph Walker led in Prayer. Joe Worrell was in charge of the event and “kept the ball moving!” Following the presentation of colors, pledge of Allegiance, National anthem, the Armed Forces Medley was played. Each branch of the service was recognized.
The guest speaker was Mrs. Katherine McMillian (SFC/USA/RET). She spoke of the sacrifices made by the men and women of the service and how we as individuals must stand up for our rights.
LTC Tommy Blair (MSARNG) spoke.
Following the special music, Brother Ralph Walker gave the closing prayer.
A delicious meal was prepared by Jerry Schuler. 2 Colt 1911, a Pit Boss Smoker, a cordless impact drill, several cups and a small tooth box were given as door prizes
