$527,000 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANT AWARDED FOR MISSISSIPPI
NeighborWorks America Grant to Bolster Hope Enterprise Corp. Programs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today announced a $527,000 federal grant to support community development activities carried out in Mississippi by the nonprofit Hope Enterprise Corp.
The NeighborWorks America grant to the Jackson-based organization is intended to support initiatives to develop affordable housing, revitalize neighborhoods, and promote job creation in Mississippi.
“Hope Enterprise is among several nonprofit organizations in Mississippi that use federal grants to leverage private, charitable and other nonfederal funding to improve urban and rural communities,” Cochran said. “I am pleased that this Mississippi organization will benefit from the completion of the FY2017 appropriations process.”
The grant for Mississippi is provided through the FY2017 Consolidated Appropriations Act, which was enacted May 5. The NeighborWorks program is a congressionally-chartered, independent agency that receives funding through the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation.
In FY2016, NeighborWorks invested $925,000 in Mississippi and reports a $99 local impact for every $1 in federal appropriations. For details, visit: http://Impact/NeighborWorks-Impact/Mississippi
