With there being a chance for a tropical system to develop in the northern Gulf of Mexico later on this week, we wanted to provide a quick update. For now a disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms is located over the Gulf, and gradual development of a tropical system is possible toward the middle or latter portion of this week. Whether or not this system organizes into a named entity, it will likely bring heavy rain to portions of the northern Gulf Coast later this week, and there is potential for heavy rain and localized flooding to even spread farther northward into central Mississippi or northeast Louisiana eventually. Because this system has not become organized, there remains quite a bit of forecast uncertainty with respect to timing and areas. We will continue to provide updates throughout the week as this system evolves. Please see the attachment with the latest update.MageeNews.com is an online news source serving Simpson and surrounding counties as well as the State of Mississippi.
