Magee, MS, August 20, 2017: On this date Magee PD Officers Landon Ates, Lin Easterling, Chris Jones, and Bryan Green conducted a safety checkpoint on US Highway 49 South near Goodwater Road. During the course of the checkpoint, Officer Lin Easterling made contact with Dallas, TX resident Deandrae Damonn Washington who was driving a maroon 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Officer Easterling observed the smell of burning Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of Marijuana and 4.48 pounds of Methamphetamine (Ice). Washington was arrested and transported to the Magee Police Department. Washington’s vehicle was seized and transported to the Magee Police Department. Magee PD Officer Ben Stephens, who assisted with the investigation after the initial incident, notified the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics to assist with the investigation. Further investigation in cooperation with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics led to the later arrest of an Ocean Springs, MS resident. Additional arrests and charges may be forthcoming as a result of this multi-agency investigation.
