JACKSON, MISS. – The Mississippi Department of Corrections is searching for escaped state Inmate Corey Lee Alred.
Alred, 39, fled a work detail in Perry County just before 2 p. today. He was still dressed in his MDOC green and white uniform. He was last seen off Mississippi Highway 42, west of Richton in Perry County.
Alred is assigned to the South Mississippi Correctional Institution (SMCI) in Greene County. He is serving a total of nine years for burglary larceny/of an unoccupied dwelling in Panola County, embezzlement in Tate County, and residential burglary in Tallahatchie County.
Alred, MDOC #184461, is a white male standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
