29 by 29 Strategic Plan

As Mississippi continues to show tremendous business growth, my office remains committed to tackling occupational licensing reform through our Tackle the Tape initiative. Over the past two years, we’ve witnessed significant progress and hope to cut even more burdensome regulations through our new 29 by 29 strategic plan. The goal is to review every regulation for all 29 occupational licensing boards and commissions by the year 2029.

EightΒ nonprofits and academic organizations will assist us with the review process. We will also receive input from industry leaders and experts, as well as legislative leaders. As we determine a regulation does not comply with the state policy, I will motion to consider changes or the entire removal of regulationsΒ to the Occupational Licensing Review Commission (OLRC), of which I am a member.

I was pleased to share Tackle the Tape successes and details of our strategic plan during an in-depth interview with the Mississippi Center for Public Policy (MCPP). We discussed the ways in which excessive regulations overshadow our economy and our team’s effort to change Mississippi’s standing as one of the most regulated states in the south.
