The City of Magee is pleased to welcome Susan Mangum home as its new Parks and Recreation Director.

When asked why she wanted to return to Magee, Susan’s answer was immediate: “Magee is my home, and I always knew I wanted to come back to my hometown.”

Susan is the daughter of Big John and Glenda Mangum, sister to John Jr. and Kris Mangum, and aunt to Jake Mangum. With athletics deeply rooted in her family, it’s no surprise that sports have always been an important part of her life.

Susan officially began her new role on Monday, June 29, and wasted no time getting to work—starting with mowing at the Sportsplex. She shared that she is impressed with the Sportsplex and looks forward to continuing its development.

After touring Magee’s parks, Susan believes the city is well-positioned to expand recreational opportunities for everyone, especially senior adults.

“I feel all ages of the population should be served,” she said.

One place especially close to her heart is McNair Springs.

“I grew up down there and want to see an investment made in that area,” Susan explained.

For now, Susan is still getting settled into her new position and does not yet have an office or city phone. If you need to reach her, please contact City Hall and leave a message. She looks forward to meeting residents and becoming involved throughout the community.

Susan brings enthusiasm, vision, and a genuine love for Magee. Her passion for improving parks and recreation is evident, and the future looks bright under her leadership.

Welcome home, Susan!
