I believe each of us feel our schools are important not only to educate our children but to allow for continued growth in our city and county.
Thursday, October 17th, a meeting conducted by the Bailey Educational Group will be held at 6:00 Pm at Mendenhall High School Gymnasium. Other meetings will be held
All meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. Bailey Education Group, LLC, is an educational support company whose mission is to partner with all schools to Improve People, Practices and Learning. We achieve our mission and produce positive results with a customized coaching focus and service delivery engineered to build capacity and ensure evidence of change. We all have ideas on what should be done to improve our schools. We all have opinions. Usually, my opinion is based on what I “think” is the best…not what facts and figures have proved. Personally, I have always been a supporter of school consolidation. I feel bringing all high school age students in our county under one roof with the best of the best teachers and the finest facility (providing a better learning environment) will shape and change the outcome of our students; therefore, increasing the value of our city and county. I published an article a week or so ago on information the Bailey Educational Group shared at the last school board meeting. The facts and figures were quite interesting. Because I need and want more information on what the Bailey group learned when studying our schools, I plan to attend the Tuesday night, October 22nd meeting at the Magee Auditorium at 6 PM . I feel a bond issue is a given, but how much money are we as taxpayers willing to pay? Can we even put a price on education? Our county office comes under much criticism. I am sure some is justified but most probably isn’t. Working within the guidelines of the federal government isn’t an easy job. What the feds require doesn’t always make sense or make us happy…but to receive the funds…we must dance to their music. One thing for sure, there are so many people in our county who want the best for our schools (students). We want to have a school system that will bring people to our county not run them away. Attend one of the 3 meetings. Let’s listen to what the Bailey Education Group learned. The Group did a thorough assessment of our schools…all of them. We need to listen with ears wide open…not ready to criticize or argue. No decisions have been made as to the path our school system will take. We are in the early stages walking together… Let’s just be sure we are walking for the betterment of our students. |
