The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Matthew 6:14: “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Yes, do you find it easy to forgive? Do you walk closely enough to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to mean it when you say you forgive someone who has wronged you? A dear friend of mine, a walking saint in my eyes and a retired minister, recently spoke such words of truth from a broken heart when he admitted, “I’m working on it.” I appreciate such honesty. It’s not easy to forgive; yet it’s expected of us. My friend didn’t say, “No, I can’t forgive the wrong.” His simple statement of, “I’m working on it” touched me very deeply and resonated within me. It’s that for which we all who call ourselves “Christian” should strive. Through prayer and supplication, we ask the Holy Spirit for spiritual help to overcome the obstacle, to cleanse our hearts, and to open the channel of blessings necessary through the act of forgiving. “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” Amen
