Doris Maxine Waters Stewart, 90 of Magee, Mississippi passed away peacefully from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was born on Friday, April 21, 1933, in Magee, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Church Alive, 276 Simpson Hwy 25 E, Magee, Mississippi.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Church Alive. The burial will follow in New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mendenhall, MS. Bro. Gene Amason Jr. and Mr. Chris Curlee will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

            Mrs. Stewart was a member of Church Alive in Magee, Mississippi, and a former member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi where she taught the Adult Ladies Sunday Class for many years.

            She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.  She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to Christian music, watching TV, and working Bible word search puzzles.  She was a talented seamstress, she was a member of the Ladies Red Hat Society, and most of all she loved spending time with her family.

            She was deeply loved by her family and anyone who knew her.  she was a humble & kind lady with a sweet spirit & always wore a smile on her face.  She was called Miss Priss by all of her Hillcrest Family.  She will be missed beyond measure.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wintford Stewart; son, Wintford William Stewart; grandson, Keith Stewart; parents, William Edward “Eddie” and Ida B. Puckett Waters; brother, Howard Waters; and sisters, Mildred Waters Shows, Vernie Waters Norris.

Survivors include her two loving daughters, Linda Stewart Curlee (Jackie) and Shelia Stewart Collins (Gene) both of Magee, MS; five grandchildren, Troy Curlee (Lori) of Brandon, MS, Chris Curlee (Jenny) of Magee, MS, Clint Collins of Nashville, TN, Keisha Collins Allen (LeWayne) of Trussville, AL and Amy Stewart Blair of Vincent, AL; seven great-grandchildren, James Curlee of Magee, MS, Jessica Curlee Williams (Trea) of Magee, MS, Kyle Curlee (Christin) of Magee, MS, Mason Curlee (Kody) of Magee, MS, Paisley Collins of Nashville, TN, Cody Hood (Amber) of Vincent, AL and Dustin Hood (Katelyn) of Vincent, AL; five great-great grandchildren, Leslie Ann Hood of Vincent, AL, Steven Hood of Vincent, AL, Easton Hood of Vincent, AL, Danielle Williams of Magee, MS and Elaine Williams of Magee, MS; sister, Sarah Waters Hughes of Hattiesburg, MS;  and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mason Curlee, Danny Norris, Anthony Norris, and Brandon Waters.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clint Collins and Kyle Curlee.
