As Fire Marshal, Charlie not only served the fire department but was in charge of emergency management and building codes. “Charlie has a vast knowledge of codes, safety, and firefighting,” stated Fire Chief David Craft, “you can’t put a price on what Charlie knows.”

Charlie has agreed to return to the city at the end of the summer and work part time.  David Craft is moving  to  Charlie’s full time spot at the Fire Department.

Thank you Charlie for your dedication to the citizens of Magee and Simpson County.

Congrats Charlie on your well deserved retirement. It’s outstanding that you get the recognition you rightfully gained. I know a man that gave 40 years of his life to that same department and only 3-5 people told him thank you when he retired. He gave 20 years to the board of aldermen and not a thank you. Due to a de habilitating disease he had to surrender to that disease, otherwise he would be there fighting this broken system in Magee. Goes to show how much he was appreciated for what he did for this town. So enjoy it Charlie, cause this board will dump you as soon somebody else retires from another department somewhere else. One thing for sure, there’s no pride in this town, that’s why it’s going down and that’s why our leaders need to resign, so maybe somebody else can fix this mess we are in and hopefully revive the beauty, simplicity, and hometown feeling this town once had. Once again, I am asking for Sue Honea, Lawanda Thompson, Mark Grubbs, Dale Berry, Patrick Brown, and Sammie Tebo to tender your resignations as quickly as possible!!!
