Willie (Preacher) Kemp was born on March 1, 1925, to the (late) Mr. Willie Kemp and Mae Bell Kemp Overby.
At an early age he joined Rock Pismah Baptist Church. He attended school at Mary Grove. He worked as a truck driver and logger for most of his life, until his health failed him.
He was united in matrimony to Carrie Mae Hayes, on January 12, 1964. And to this union, treasuring his memories and celebrating his home going, he leaves his wife Carrie Mae Kemp; five sons, Willie Kemp (Tammy) of Georgetown, MS, Greg Kemp (Tammy) of Hazelhurst, MS, David Kemp (Aretha) of Magee, MS, Cornelius Kemp (Shamarion) of New Orleans, LA, Isaac Kemp (Trina) of Magee, MS; two daughters, Rebecca Kemp Jackson (Jerry “Bubby” Rankin) and Shannon Kemp both of Magee, MS; two daughters to another union, Sandra Kemp Dilallo (Chester) of Laurel, MD and Glenda Parker; eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby James (Ledrew) of Mendenhall, MS, Jenny Howell, Callie Jones and T.J. Overby all of Gulfport, MS. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by sons, Douglas Kemp, Ronald Kemp and a daughter, Lisa Kemp.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. Rev. Charles Funchess will officiate. Burial will follow in Gregory Cemetery in Magee.
