The Scriptural passage for today is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” This is one of my favorite passages of Scripture, because it serves as a reminder to me to stay focused on God and His power and might in my everyday life if I wish to succeed. We are admonished not to trust our own judgment, but to rely solely on God at all times by giving Him total credit in all things. The Word of God for the people of God; thanks be to God. Amen! Today, let’s purpose in our hearts to share and spread the love, joy, and kindness with others. God charges us to be extensions of Him when with or around others.
The photo is of one of my favorite penny candies from childhood. For decades, I hadn’t seen any of these delicious morsels until about three years ago, when Roses opened here on Highway 13. Since that day, I keep a goodly supply of them on hand and devour one now and then as a treat and an instant throwback to those days of buying five of them with my nickel at Roy Upton’s Store at Martinville. Buy a bag of them (for much more than a nickel) and enjoy the taste and the nostalgic stroll back in time.
