This Is Not What I Planned
As most of you have done, I have made plans all of my life. Some were completed as I planned but many were sidetracked or changed! I still make plans, but I am wiser now and I don’t get as upset as I once did when my plans are changed. Sometimes they are changed by finances or timing, some by other people or circumstances and some by tragedy. As many graduates are making plans, I would encourage them to be cautious and careful about who they seek for advice when making plans for their future!!
As I look back on my life, I can see and understand some of the obstacles that changed my plans. There were life’s storms that were hurtful and sorrowful and seemed never-ending. There were minor setbacks and there were major setbacks. I took paths that I never planned and did not make sense to others, but I found such satisfaction on the path that I took! I have made some wonderful friends and crossed paths with many diverse people and learned so much! I believe that each change was part of God’s plan to grow me spiritually into living His plan, not mine!! Instead of railing and complaining about life, we need to look for God’s hand in all that happens to us. Some of the bad things that happen to us, we bring about by demanding our way instead of God’s way. Some are part of Satan’s plan to discourage us and to steal our joy! But through all of the life, I have found God’s plans were much better than mine!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
