The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Deuteronomy 33:27: “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ‘Destroy him!'” The prophet is telling his people to rely wholly on God for comfort and safety. God will go before them to protect them in the face of adversity. In God, there is assurance that evil will be overcome and ultimately defeated. We can have that same assurance when we place our trust in Him. He will never forsake us or leave us defenseless and without hope. “What a fellowship, what a joy divine, leaning on the everlasting arms. What a blessed peace with my Lord so near, leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarm. Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.” I love the old hymn and find great comfort in its lyrics. Let us all learn to lean and rely on Jesus for comfort and strength.
We know our charge for the day. It doesn’t change and should not. We are to share and spread the love, joy, and kindness with others throughout the day. Let us be serious in going about doing good. Amen!
