The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Magee passed a proclamation recognizing the members of the United States Military Forces on February 17, 2015.  It is very important to remember those laying their lives on the line for us each and everyday.  These military personnel protect our rights and freedom everyday.  Often we forget about the families of loved ones overseas or in other parts of our county serving in the Armed Forces.  Below is the resolution passed by the Board:

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN O THE CITY OF MAGEE RECOGNIZING THE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES

Whereas, the men and women of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard continue to protect the United States of America; and

Whereas, there are many citizens in the city of Magee who serve in the respective branches of the Armed Services; and

Whereas, our citizens serving in the respective branches of the military serve not only in our country but often in foreign countries and in hostile environments, and

Whereas, our military personnel make many sacrifices for the sake of our country and our city and

Whereas, the families of our military personnel also make many sacrifices for our country and for our community and

Whereas, without the service and dedication of our military we could not enjoy the many freedoms that we have come to know and enjoy and

Whereas, the service of our military enable us to pursue our basic rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and

Whereas, lest we never forget the service, loyalty, and dedication of our military personnel who continue to protect our nation from the forces of evil.

Now therefore be it resolved by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen that the City of Magee recognizes and pays tribute to all of our military personnel and their families for their service to our country and we continue to support and to thank all of our military personnel both active and retired.  A motion to adopt the foregoing resolution was made by Lane Steele seconded by Murry Keith and approved by the majority of the Board of Aldermen.  So ordered this the 17th day of February 2015.
