The November 6, 2017 Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting was called to order by President Curtis Skiffer.

The board reported the Tom Berry Road Bridge had been repaired and reopened. The bridge required an additional piling. Work will begin Tuesday, November 7, 2017 on the Jupiter Road Bridge. The Jupiter Road Bridge is not expected to require a long repair time due to only two pilings needing repair. When work is completed on Jupiter, the crew will move to the bridge located on 472. The 472 bridge is expected to take longer to repair due to more repairs than just pilings.

The board asked Sheriff Donald O’Cain if he had named a replacement for the Chief of Staff position that is now vacant. The sheriff advised he is taking his time to find the best candidate and being very selective on his choice.

The Board approved easements for the Road Manager on Linnie Mae Brewer and Joseph Hicks to cut dead trees. An easement was approved for Barnette Broocks to repair wash under bridge. The board also approved the purchasing of a 2004 Tandem International, to pull lowboy to move equipment that will be purchased from Rankin County along with a 2010 Truck to use for asphalt and spreaders in the amount of $6400.00. The approval was given for $10,000 for repairs needing to be done on transmission.
