Board of Supervisors during their regular schedule meeting Friday, September 15, 2017, approved a 4 mill increase on taxes.
This increase will apply to the Ad Valorem tax millage rate increasing the present rate of 99.5 mills to 103.5 mills. This increase will apply to home, automobile tags, utilities, business fixtures & equipment, and rental real property.
The board held a public hearing for any citizens to discuss their concerns. Several concerned citizens voiced their opinion about the increase. This increase applies directly toward road improvements.
The Board advised money allocated each year for road repairs is less than the actual cost of needed repairs causing a shortfall before the fiscal year ends.
After hearing all concerns, the board approved the tax increase for the next year.
Attached is a copy of the letter that was published before the meeting informing citizens of the hearing and charts to show where the tax payers money is spent.
