Steve Jackson Ates,74, of Magee passed peacefully from his life to join his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. A memorial service will be held at Tutor Funeral home in Magee, MS on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
Steve was born in Magee on July 9, 1949, to Thurman and Lou Ates, MS and continued to live in Magee where he graduated from Magee High School. Steve was very successful in the many businesses he owned and when it came to his favorite sport he had super talents at golf. He chased the dimpled little ball every given chance. Steve also loved the mountainous ranges in Colorado and New Mexico.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Thurman Ates; mom, Lou Ates; sister, Cindi Ates; grandparents, Carvin and Elsie Ates; and grandson Bentley Ates.
Steve is survived by his sons, Josh Ates (Becky) of Florence, MS, Jacob Ates of Colorado Springs, Co, and Tyler Ates (Christine) Puckett, MS; beloved grandkids, Austin, Paris, Cameron, Brandon, Dylan, and Silas Ates and three great grandkids.
