From Kari:
No real update on Luke, except he had a quiet night. We have a different nurse this morning, please pray that she will love him as much as we do and make the best calls for him. Pray for a good day with no setbacks. Thanks for all of your support. I’ll never be able to thank everyone enough. Also, please continue to update those who are following and praying for Luke. We just ask that you copy and paste what we say so that no confusion is made on his progress.
Tuesday evening update- Luke has had a long day today, he has had some trouble with increased temperature today so he is back on the sedatives, therefore the physicians remain unable to assess neurological status. As soon as we know something I will certainly share with everyone. Right now we are celebrating small steps and working through the setbacks. All the love and support is greatly appreciated! Please continue to pray.
Latest update from Audrey Walker:
We have a special prayer request for Luke Shimer who is Audrey Walker Andrews’ grandson-in-law and Shannon Jones Ladner’s son-in-law. Luke was struck by lightning Tuesday night and now is in an induced coma. Audrey, Shannon & Rusty are heading to FL. Let us pray for this precious family.
This is Shannon’s post from Tuesday night:
“I have so many prayer warriors in my life and we need you now more than ever. Tonight, our son in law Luke was struck by lightning and is now in ICU. We are leaving in the morning to go be with him and our daughter Kari. If you will, please say a prayer for healing for Luke, peace and strength for Kari, and safe travels for us. We serve a risen savior and we know that we are in His hands. We will praise Him in this storm. Love to all and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I will update as I can.”

Quick update on Luke, he had a quiet night and is going for a CT scan in a few minutes. The doctor says it is going to be a long uphill battle, but he is young and very strong. Thank you again for all of the prayers. We beg you to continue. Such a roller coaster but we know who is in charge. We give praise to God and know that this time in our lives will glorify His kingdom. Love to all. (Shannon)
Saturday Morning Update: they attempted a test this morning at 5am to take him off all of his meds but unfortunately Luke did not react well to that. They are going to now wait 24hrs and try again tomorrow morning. He is still on the ventilator and back on his meds. Keep praying!
Sunday morning update: Luke is still critical in ICU and is still on a ventilator. He has pneumonia pretty bad and his lungs need time to heal. He is being weened off one of the medications this morning so they can assess his breathing ability. They will have a better idea over the next few hours how that all stands. The number of people that are praying for us is amazing and we feel every one. His story has touched so many so I know that God is being glorified in so many ways. Thanks again for lifting us up!
