Severe Weather and Flash Flooding Likely Thursday

The National Weather Service in Jackson is predicting severe weather and possible flash flooding for Thursday, April 18.  A cold front will be moving through the area Thursday afternoon, bringing the possibility of storms with it.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, “Severe thunderstorms are expected on Thursday. Tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and hail will be possible – especially across portions of northeast Louisiana and central, east, and south Mississippi. Please stay tuned for updates as this weather event approaches.”

Simpson County is in the area of “Enhanced Risk: Tornadoes, of which a strong tornado cannot be ruled out, damaging winds 70-80 mph, quarter size hail.”

There is also an “elevated threat” of flash flooding in the area, with the possibility of 2″-4″ of rain over short periods of time.
