As parents, students, and teachers await a decision on the re-opening of schools for fall, information, data, and opinions are running rampant.  In my opinion, there is no easy fix.  A decision will be made by our County School superintendent. We must go forward.  From what I understand, plans will not be announced until the end of July.

All the data makes it clear that reopening is not simply a matter of saying we are going to do this.

Opening safely during a pandemic, and being able to stay open, requires lots of careful planning —and usually means a bunch of money spent for testing, cleaning, and social distancing.

According to the New York Times: Research Shows Students Falling Months Behind During Virus Disruptions which means remote learning did not go well.  A fall without students in a classroom would leave many students further behind as well as no childcare for many.

Right now, sports are on for the fall.  I can’t imagine Simpson County with out football…  Nor can I imagine an entire or part of a team battling the coronavirus.

We need to pray for our School personnel.  We may start and stop.  We may change directions.  But, our principals and teachers want the best for our children.

Have a blessed day.
