Robert Davidson McLean, III

A longtime resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Robert Davidson McLean, III passed away after a long struggle with cancer at the VA Hospice Unit on October 9, 2018. 

David served in the US Navy on the USS George Washington (SSBN 598) the first ballistic missile submarine and the USS Sam Huston((SSBN 609) in the 1960’s.  He was an avid bass fisherman, known lovingly by his friends as Trout.  He also loved playing golf with family and friends at the Hickory Hills Country Club.

He is predeceased by his parents, Cathrine Maxie Murphy Swango and Robert Davidson McLean II.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn Austin McLean of Vancleave, MS, son, Robert “Bob” Davidson McLean IV, and grandson, Bailey Davidson McLean of Gautier, MS, Sister, Cathrine Schmaltz and husband William, of Groesbeck, TX and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Jack Bicket.

Visitation will be Saturday October 13, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel, Magee, MS.
