Representative Dana Criswell, District 6 Desoto County, spoke to the monthly meeting of the Simpson County Conservative Men at the VFW on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Criswell is active in the 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Counties movement.  The movement began in Virginia and is sweeping the country as other states move toward protection of the right to bear arms.

The 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Resolution is just that…a resolution and not a law.    “The resolution is to back citizen and local law officials in their ability and right to bare arms,” stated Criswell.

Presently there are 15 counties in Mississippi that have passed the resolution with 10 counties having the matter on their agenda.

Simpson County is scheduled to consider becoming a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary county at the March 2nd Board of Supervisors meeting.

Second Amendment sanctuary, also known as a gun sanctuary, refers to states, counties, or localities in the United States that have adopted laws or resolutions to prohibit or impede the enforcement of certain gun control measures perceived as violative of the Second Amendment such as universal gun background checks
