The Scriptural passage for today is found in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” Blessed assurance! Yes, we are comforted during times of trouble and are, therefore, able to comfort others. All of us face tragedy and heartache, and no one is immune or spared it. Having a heavenly Father to bolster and support us, however, means everything to the Christian, thus enabling us, in turn, to show compassion to and for others when they face troubling times. It’s yet another of the perks of being Christian. Let’s never forget the source of that love and compassion and be sure to share and spread both, along with joy and kindness, as we go about our day.
I hope that everyone who is physically able will be gathering this morning for church services. We need to join with others in showing praise to God by singing hymns, enjoying the fellowship with other Christians, and listening to a stirring message from one of God’s anointed. If unable to get out to attend a service, take advantage of one of many available on television and radio.
Happy Sunday!
