Smith County Sheriff Charlie Crumpton confirmed a plane crashed Saturday night near Mize on Hwy 28.
MHP and Smith County officials are on the scene. Sheriff Crumpton reports the aircraft landed on Hwy 28 and flipped. Officials state the male pilot is en route to SCRMC in Laurel with minor injuries. Officers report the severe weather in the area may have played a factor to the crash.
