Weather could not have been any better for a Sunday afternoon wagon train.  The wagon train began in Mize on Saturday morning and had a rest stop at the Runnels residence on Saturday night close to the Smith/Simpson county line.  The wagons and horse riders began Sunday morning for a beautiful ride along some county roads before riding up Simpson Highway 149 through the heart of Magee.  Plans are for rest tonight around the Sanatorium area.  Many onlookers stopped along the parade route to wave and share smiles with the riders.

The Mt. Olive Wagon Train has been a fixture in the community for many years.  You can always count on the wagon train to come through Magee the Sunday before the start of  The Dixie National Rodeo in Jackson, MS.  Tommy Sullivan has always played a big part of the Wagon Train.  But after the death of the former Wagon Master who was also Tommy’s stepmother, Florine Sullivan in 2009, Tommy acquired the title of Wagon Master.

Tommy stated approximately 29 wagons and 139 horse riders make up the 2016 Wagon Train.
