Opinions! (and learning to be discreet!)
I have closely followed the troubles of our community: our schools are in trouble, our healthcare facilities are facing hard times, crime is increasing, unemployment and under-employment is a big issue. I have opinions on a lot of these issues. Anyone that knows me knows that I am full of opinions!! That’s not necessarily a good thing!! But I hope that as I have matured, I have learned a valuable lesson about sharing those opinions.
From Max Lucado’s Daily Devotions:
Romans 14:4 makes clear: “they are God’s servants, not yours. They are responsible to Him, not to you. Let Him tell them whether they are right or wrong”.
Romans 14:19 “Let us try to do what makes peace and helps one another.”
1 Peter 4:8 – “Love shall cover the multitude of sins.” So, if love covers a multitude of sins, can it cover a multitude of opinions? It is better to be quiet and keep a brother than be loud and lose one.
A very good reminder to all of us.
