Statement on Officer-Involved Shootings The Office of the Attorney General today announced it has completed the review of three incidents involving officer-involved shootings: an October 20, 2022, incident in Lucedale with one George County Sheriff’s Office Deputy; a December 11, 2022, incident in Jackson with one Capitol Police Department Officer; and a December 21, 2022, incident in Richland with one Richland Police Department Officer. In all three incidents, the Attorney General’s Office found the use of force was justified. Pursuant to Section 45-1-6 of the Mississippi Code, the reviews followed an investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
