Noah Sanford announces run for re-election as state representative
Noah Sanford has authorized MageeNews to announce his run for re-election to the Mississippi House of Representatives. Since 2016, Sanford has represented District 90, which encompasses parts of Covington, Simpson, and Jefferson Davis Counties. In Simpson County, Sanford represents all or parts of the Saratoga, New Hope, Bowie, Oak Grove, Magee 2, Magee 1, and Dry Creek precincts.
Sanford is a native of Covington County and is the son of Ike and Mary Anne Sanford, both retired public school educators. He is a graduate of Seminary High School, Jones Junior College, the University of Mississippi, and the University of Mississippi Law School. Sanford works as an attorney in Collins.
In the House of Representatives, Sanford currently serves as a member of the committees on Agriculture, Energy, Public Utilities, Public Health, Elections, County Affairs, Judiciary, and State Library.
Sanford states that the most significant pieces of legislation passed into law this four-year term include the rural broadband bill, as well the “use tax diversion,” which will send more than $2 million each year back to District 90 for local road and bridge repairs.
“I have tried to make thoughtful, informed decisions and voice the concerns of rural Mississippians,” said Sanford. “If re-elected, I will continue to put common sense and the interests of my district over partisanship in Jackson.”
Sanford states that he will continue supporting measures that would help address problems facing rural Mississippi—namely, the shortage of public school teachers, funding shortfalls for rural infrastructure, and the struggles facing rural hospitals.
Sanford and his wife, Clancy, are members of Union South Baptist Church, where Noah serves as pianist.
