Mrs. Chyrel Grayson Bynum passed from this life on Thursday, November 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 31, 1947, to the late Leon Jones and Hazel Jones in Simpson County.
Chyrel was a devoted member of Coat Baptist Church, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She found joy in taking care of anyone she came into contact with, which was reflected in the joy she took in her work with Food Services for twenty-seven years at Simpson County Schools. When children would see her, they often called her “The Lunch Lady.” She was the heart of her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The last ten years of her life have been filled with joy and happiness with her loving husband, Harold. They enjoyed spending quality time with each other and their families. On many afternoons, you could find them watching Gunsmoke, Wheel of Fortune, and Law and Order SVU, to name just a few.
Mrs. Chyrel was preceded in death by her husbands, the late Jimmy Runnels and the late Gary “Goofy” Grayson; her parents, Leon and Hazel Jones; and her brother-in-law, Ray Hall.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Bynum; her children Rhonda (John) Gleason, Vince (Stephenie) Grayson, Chad (Lenora) Grayson and Amanda (Ben) Grayson; her sisters, Nancy Hall, Patricia (Billy) Blair, Ellen (Sammy) Blount and Theda (Charles) Gibbons; twelve grandchildren, Allison Thompson, Kimberly Gleason, Jaret V. Grayson, Jake (Kaileigh) Grayson, Drew Grayson, Madi-Marie Grayson, Mari-Margaret Grayson, Annlee Grayson, Deuce Grayson, Asher Grayson, Grayson (Maggie) Seghini and Ethan Seghini; six great-grandchildren, Eian Gleason, Caleb Thompson, Sy Seghini, Ella Mae Seghini, Jacob Grayson and Jackson Grayson along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, at Coat Baptist Church, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Bro. Vince Grayson, Bro. Chad Grayson and Bro. Bill Blair will officiate the service, with burial to follow in Coat Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jaret V. Grayson, Grayson Seghini, Jake Grayson, Ethan Seghini, Deuce Grayson, Drew Grayson, and Asher Grayson, as well as her great-grandsons, Eian Gleason and Caleb Thompson, serving as honorary pallbearers.
