Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Hugh Blackwell, 59 of Taylorsville, MS returned to his heavenly home on April the 14th of 2021. Tommy Hugh passed away peacefully in his sleep at Care Center of Laurel, MS.
He was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church of Taylorsville, MS. Mr. Tommy Hugh loved to sing and also tried his hand at writing some gospel songs.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Beaverdam Baptist Church in Taylorsville.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Beaverdam Baptist Church. The Burial will follow in Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Eddie Brady will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. (601) 785-6564
Tommy Hugh was born to the late Lumus Allen and Martha Paulin Blackwell of Taylorsville, MS on February 8, 1962, at Jasper General Hospital in Bay Springs MS.
Tommy Hugh worked in the oil field industry until his retirement, after retirement, he began selling shrimp and was known as “The Shrimp Man”. Tommy Hugh lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, fishing, riding motorcycles, traveling, and spreading the word of God. Tommy Hugh also loved chatting with anyone he came in contract with and spending time with his friends and family. Tommy Hugh will always be remembered for not wearing shoes, a huge voice, and a bright smile. Tommy Hugh loved people and everyone loved him and will be missed by so many people!
He is survived by his sister, Peggy Desormeaux of Franklin LA, brother, Albert (Sarah) Blackwell and Joe Allen (Dense) Blackwell both of Taylorsville, MS. A host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Keith Middleton, Berry McCool, Jeff Blakeney, Scotty Westbrook, Bruce Bankston, and Brandon Westbrook. Honorary pallbearers will be Stacy Blakeney and Stanley Blackwell.
