Over 40,000 Mississippians requested absentee ballots last week, bringing the total to 112,529.

A breakdown of ballots requested by county and polling place is attached.  Not all absentee ballots are returned to the Circuit Clerk, particularly when the voter decides to cast his or her ballot on Election Day.

Counties requesting absentee ballots for more than 10 percent of their active voters were Claiborne (17.57%), Noxubee (13.32%), Montgomery (12.25%), Greene (11.86%), Quitman (10.66%), and Benton (10.25%).  About 6 percent of active voters across the State requested absentee ballots.
