Mary Ellen Tanner, 92 of Mendenhall, MS, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at her home in Mendenhall, MS. She was born Monday, July 17, 1933, in Cuba, Illinois.

 Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 908 SCR 59 Mize, MS. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Mize. Burial will follow in Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Bro. Joey McLeod will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

  Mrs. Tanner was married to L.E. Tanner for 37 years. She was a business owner and homemaker who also worked on her and her husband’s farm, raising farm animals. She loved gardening and crocheting. Additionally, she cared for her brother Jimmy, whom she loved dearly, until his death two years ago. Mrs. Tanner was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and served the church until her death. She had a vibrant personality and loved her dog, Cupcake, very much. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, L.E Tanner;  daughter, Verna Roberts; father, James  Grindle;  mother, Mary Ellen  Garrison  Grindle;  brothers, William  Grindle, George  Grindle and Jimmy  Grindle, Jr.;  sisters, Evelyn Parrish and Lucille Sutton.

 Survivors include her sons, Larry Nunn and Richard Nunn; daughter, Janet Wright; step-son, Larry Tanner (Sue); step-daughter, Sue Cummings (Brian); 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 Pallbearers will be Ricky Allen, Eddie Wright, Joseph Wright, Devin Stone, Nick White, and Scott Ehrat.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Calvary Presbyterian Church family.
