Gloria was originally from Mendenhall where she graduated high school. While living in Pratville, Alabama, Gloria’s husband, Tommy Lucas, passed away. Gloria continued teaching school in Pratville until her retirement. What was known to many as the “McAlpin House” in Magee became Gloria’s home in 2003.
Since moving to Magee, Gloria served as president of the Chamber of Commerce as well as served on the Chamber Board. Gloria is a member of the Women’s Club of Magee. She has graciously opened her home for many events including weddings, receptions, Magee’s yearly Tea in the Garden, as well as, events for the Heart Association and Relay for Life. Around Christmas time Gloria can be found assisting Santa as Mrs. Claus for Magee events.
Gloria has two children, Kara Lucas Horton of California, and Doug Lucas a coach in Ocean Springs, MS.
