Forty years!!!! Yes, that is how long the Chamber of Commerce and City of Magee has sponsored this wild and crazy festival.

From early morning until late afternoon, the streets of Magee are filled with people enjoying the sites, the food, the crafts, the rides, and the visiting. Crazy Day is a time for many to “come home” to Magee and visit up and down the Main Street of Magee.

“Dash for Cash,” sponsored by Peoples Bank, was the first event of the day. Runners were everywhere! I’ll post the winners when I can get the list. I can say this…we’ve got some “fast folks”…young and old!

The Car Show under the direction of Dr. Rudy Runnels and assisted by Diane McPhail was a “gem” located near the Fire Department. I don’t know how anyone gets those cars and trucks so shiny and clean. I saw makes of cars I had never seen and ones I had not seen in years. The car show is always one of the top main stops for men!

Saturday proved to be a great day for politicking! The candidates were out in force. Personally, I like seeing the faces of the candidate and family! A political race takes a team…and our candidates had teams!

The library featured book signing by John Shivers, Joe Lee, and former Magee resident Nancy Kay Sullivan Wessman. Even if you didn’t want a book, the library made a great stop for some cool air!

The Magee Courier provided a free concert Friday night on Main Street kicking off the weekend events. The band was fantastic…and even the weather cooperated!

The day was hot…I’m just saying…hot…which gave the drink and food venders plenty of “shoppers.”

The train, the bouncy blow-ups, the Radio Flyer, the spinner, the pop a balloon, and even local talent provided something for everyone.

Much thanks to our Chamber of Commerce and City of Magee for a great job!
