Magee Police may have caught the alleged murderer of an elderly couple found dead in their Rankin County home on Hwy 469.
A routine traffic stop conducted by Magee Police Officers Vance Hamilton and Jacob Trest Tuesday morning around 2:00 am lead police to discover a man in possession of a stolen handgun with a homemade silencer. The driver, of Ocean Springs, MS, also had blood on him, police reported.
The driver reported he had an altercation with his mother in Ocean Springs, and went for a drive to Berry’s Fish House on Hwy 49, before turning around to head home, although his time-line didn’t add up, police reported. The suspicious circumstances lead police to place the driver under arrest.
Search incident to arrest also lead police to discover, bloody paper towels, and a bloody pair of socks in the vehicle.
Upon further investigation, police ascertained the driver as the grandson of the elderly couple killed in Rankin County. The driver, whose identity has not been release was transported to Rankin County Sheriff’s Department early Wednesday morning.

Suspects name is Zachary Alexander Stanford and grandparents are Robert and Peggy Faries.
